Hi , So Day 82 brought us to Good Friday. I have stopped the review of Place Bet Pro here as there was no racing then I went away for Easter and had no internet connection so apologies for being short by 2 days but I think the results speak for themselves. Place Bet Pro is a place betting system e-book for UK Horse Racing. The system rules identify place bets which can be placed on Betfair or with any bookmaker that offers place only bets. I just used Betfair for the purposes of this trial. The rules of Place Bet Pro are very straight forward and easy to follow and are based on short priced horses finishing in the frame. The system is set up to be applied on UK Horse Racing however it is simple enough that it may be applied elsewhere but for the purposes of this trial I will stick to UK racing. The main issue with the system is that the selections are based on horses being within a certain price range. However it doesn’t specify a time i.e. just before the off, at the start of the day etc. Given that I live in Australia and to be consistent I tried to get my prices that were on offer at 11am UK time. This gave the markets enough time to move after the bookies put up their prices and still allowed me to get some beauty sleep! However this created the potential for me to come up with slightly different results than someone who was sitting there all day and betting at the off. And I had a couple of people get in touch with me about their selections and we were slightly different because of that. However, the results speak for themselves. So altogether there were 212 qualifiers, 164 winners and 48 unplaced for a strike rate of 77.4 per cent. I think from memory the author claimed 82 per cent so we are pretty close. So therefore the total amount staked was £21,200 for a return of £23,121.80, a return on investment of around 10 per cent, which is a lot more than I am getting in my UK bank account currently! To sum up simply, it is easy to use and it definitely comes more naturally as time goes on. Looking back over my review I reckon I didn’t come completely to grips with it until about 20 days or so in. Can do the selections in about 10-15 minutes now. I didn’t really follow it with my own money but most certainly will be now so hopefully can retire in about 2 years J. The good thing about this system is that it doesn’t require a huge bank and is designed for level staking though I am going to use a percentage of bank going forward as if this performance repeats it will build up nicely as well as looking at doing doubles and trebles. Unfortunately Paddy Power seems to be the only bookie that offers place only betting and some of his odds leave a little to be desired. If anyone can point me to anyone else that does it would be much appreciated. Start Balance: £1000 Total P/L: £2121.80 Final Balance: £3121.80 Regards Sgt Steve reviewing Place Bet Pro[Click here to see Place Bet Pro]Written by on Apr 26th, 2012. Comment. ![]()

Comments on Place Bet Pro Final Review
@BST Admin:
Hi Thanks for Info.
Web site now updated showing loss for April , May has not been that profitable either , just showing a smaill profit after 27 days.
Surprisingly they answer my other emails but don’t repsond to my questions re the poor results.
I did think to myself maybe its down to the change from NH to Flat and the overlap beofre the Flat really gets going , the only way you would prove that would be to see full year results from last year which they don’t have.
Hi Peter
If you are a subscriber to their service you should contact the vendors at SystemBet Plus and find out what is going on and why they are not posting results.
If any bloggers have the full results for Place Bet Pro can you please contact BST Help Desk so we can pass these onto Peter many thanks.
Hi all,
same rules to US-racing?? possible??
@stantheman: Hi, question to everyone really. I haven’t purchase Place bet pro yet but I have subscribed to Place Win Profit from the systemBetplus people. currently 9.39 points down after a months worth of tips 78 tips , 53 winners , 25 looser giving a strike rate of 67.9%, with an average place price of 0.3774 giving the current loss.
At these prices 25 straight winning bets would be required to break even.
My question is it possible to check the place bet pro selections with mine for the past month to see if they are similar, I have the full results in Excel.
What is also interesting on the system bet plus site the place bets made a profit since Dec 2011 and this is the first month of loss, they have not update the result sreadsheets since middel / end of April so I wonder if they are being selective with results.
well i just got it does look ok ,but ive been doing my own system i had 10 selctions and 5of them won and the rest placed so ill be sticking with that for now early day but these can be found in ten min
i use this system,but i use it to help me and dont just rely on it,when it picks horses out have a look at its form and then make your own decision i have had upto 90% strike rate some weeks. also look at betfair it pays first 2 on some 4 runner races also first 3 on 7 runner races which makes it brilliant value.when a system works on odds there is always going to be fluctuation. just stick to a pacific time and see how it goes,but if its making a profit doing it at noon then it seems a no brainer to stick to that time.
first post on here hope not boring you.
cheers baldeee
@BST Admin:
I did not want to discredit the good work of BST.
I just wanted to point out the possibility that the results were so good due to an upswing.
And you delivered an argument why it could be better to bet at noon – I like.
I will take that into account and let run two different versions of the system now. Let’s see which one is the better one in 6 months or so. I think that’s the minimum time we need to make a judge.
Cheers,
Jake.
Hi Jake
This one could run forever mate, all we have said is that lunch time is what is quoted in the manual, now we would assume that any self respecting author would check out different times of the day to see which was the best. One reason and it is a logical one it could be the market has settled down more and not as yet influenced by people backing tipsters, jockeys and trainers on a roll during the racing etc. At the end of the day the system was passed on what it had done over the 82 day trial which is a lot longer than most review sites out there, and our reviewers try their best to look at the long term prospects too, really there is not much more that we can do.
@BST Admin:
Betting close to the OFF with this system and without a further selection method is hopeless. And I still don’t think that betting at noon will improve the results. For sure both methods have different strike rates because every change you make have an impact on the strike rate. But you can’t explain why the strike rate with betting at noon should be higher! As I said: there is no logic in it.
And the differnet selections you will have also if you make your selection process an hour later. So it would never be possible to prove if the system is profitable or not because you always could say:”….sorry, wrong betting time.”
And yes, Marketfeeder can link both markets…it can do almost anything if you know how to handle it.
Cheers,
Jake.
@Rich Williams:
MarketFeederPro can indeed link the markets as required.
@Redback:
I don’t know of a bot that will monitor two markets and place bets on one based upon the prices on another. A reader lower down reckoned he used MarketFeeder, but I don’t know if it can do that.
A ratchet system is where you increase stakes based upon an increase in bank.
So for eaxample if you have a bank of £100 and want to wager 10% of your bank, your stakes would start off at £10. If your bank goes up to £110 your stakes would increase to £11.
I do this at the end of the day based upon the bank at the end of the day. Some people reduce the stake if the bank goes down. I don’t reduce the stakes.
Got this last week. Not doing too well so far but it’s early days I suppose. On small stakes at this stage and just using the singles option. It needs to up it’s strike rate from last week – hopefully it will.
Hi Rich
I bought PBP and so far so good. Like Steve I live in Aus and have no choice but to put my bets on here at night (your lunch time) as I work in the day. Since BF have put our commission up to 6.5% I have decided to stick to UK & US Races. I have applied this to US races as well. So far so good.
What I wanted to ask is where would I obtain a bot to process the selections. I have never used on. Any advice would be welcome.
Also would you explain a ratchet system. Do you mean placing your stake plus the winnings on the second selection on BF as they dont offer a doubles optons.
I would very much like you continue reporting your results.
Thanks RB
Hi Glyn
For the first 30 so days of the review the system was in the red but it then picked up and produced profits. Like all services or systems there will be losing cycles and winning cycles so it is what is achieved over a period of time not just a couple of weeks. The system got 4 stars based on what Steve achieved over 82 days which gave enough time to factor in losing and winning cycles. If we just reviewed the product for just 30 days then it would have failed but that is why we review a product for a minimum of 56 days to give a fairer reflection and if a product is doing reasonably well we extend the review to 84 days.
Hi John
Steve was not just doing fields with 8+ runners he was doing the smaller fields too in line with the rules.
@BST Admin: I got Place Bet Pro (wished i had not) like Jake think its hopeless I am well Down Regards Glyn
I did monitor the system before and, sporadically, during the review, while I was review manager. It seemed to regularly produce good results. Which is why, towards the end of Steve’s review, I started using it.
It doesn’t produce profit every day, which is what Steve found, but overall it seems remarkably regular.
If using a bot, I would suggest, if it will let you, getting it to check the number of runners before placing the bet – also you would need a bot that would monitor two separate markets.
The manual suggests checking the selections at lunchtime, but that is because it goes on to select the “best” bets and placing doubles or trebles.
Like Steve’s review, I am simply using singles, but a ratchet system works well on singles with such a high success rate. So I can wait to close to the off, which strikes me as a more accurate way of applying the selection criteria.
Because Steve is in the land of Oz, we decided on checking earlier in the day at more or less the same time. If you copy that time, you should do fine.
Another tweak that I do is check on Betfair, sometimes a lower field size still pays out on 3 places so it makes sense to include them as bets if the odds are ok.
Doing it manually, I have found it surprisingly easy to make mistakes, but I am more organised now. If people are interested I’ll continue to report results.
By the way, Steve, well done on a great review!
Although Rich hasn’t been following it using the advice given in the manual it does seem to be profitable still and taking away the 5 mistake bets that he done that gives an S/R of 81% which is very close to that claimed by the author.
Admin
Also have this sys mixed results so far at the start of the review the reviewer was targeting 8+runners ONLY for the 123 place are the results based on these races or has he included all races.
regards John
I’ve been using Place Bet Pro for 15 days. I only check the selection criteria about 5 mins before the off, basically between the previous completed race and the upcoming race.
That way I usually have an accurate number of runners (the system selects only certain field sizes.) – I then place the bets if the criteria are met.
I have had 47 winning bets out of 63 bets = 74% Strike Rate and that includes 5 mistake losing bets where I forgot the rule about number of runners.
With a daily ratchet staking plan I have made 36% profit on my starting bank. So I am happy so far!
Hi Jake
Well we are following what the manual says if it does not make a profit following the rules then fine then we know. Of course it is possible that you get flip flop favourites etc allowing for the time gap between say 12 noon and a race starting at 16:00 and it could have an effect on the strike rate because you would be on a different horse. If you want to back selections 3 seconds before the off and that is not in the system rules then that is your choice but you can hardly blame a system for losing if you do not follow the guidelines given. There is several times when you look at BSP that selections at 12 noon which have won or been placed would not have qualified. Anyway the system was passed by Sgt Steve after doing an extensive 82 day review and was based on the results that he achieved like any of our reviews on BST.
A little, what is your question specifically?
Cheers
Steve
does anybody know about a Carl Harris dog man.
@BST Admin:
Sorry, but why should the results be better if I make my selections with early prices? There’s no logic in this…
If I use a system like Golden Key I can take the early prices at BOG bookies to boost my profits. But the prices you get at 12:00 to 12:30 won’t be higher than the BSP prices. Here we are talking about the strike rate. And why should the strike rate be higher when I make my selections at this time??
Hi Jake
If you look at the end of the Place Bet Pro manual you will find FAQ’S and the author answer to “When is the best time to to find the qualifying bets and use the system” is “You can actually do it anytime on the day before the racing starts, but I would say the later the better around lunch time”. So it is quite likely you are picking up some different selections doing it so close to when the actual race starts, perhaps try around 12:00 to 12:30 to find your bets and see if you notice an improvement.
I can’t confirm the good results of the system. I use it since 5 weeks now and I’m 8 points down.
I set up a trigger with all conditions for Marketfeeder to set the bets approx 3 seconds before the OFF. That’s 100% accurate!
The results are disappointing. I think the good results were just an upswing of the system…atm I’m very sceptical about the long term profit of this system.
Hi Sgt. Steve,
firstly as always many thanks for giving us your time in bringing this review to us.
BST has always been a bit of a ‘hard-task-master’ when it comes to judging systems/services, and of course rightly so. However as PBP has more than tripled your initial starting bank in less than 3 mo., I would put this in the ‘exceptional’ category. As we all know, 99% of what’s available out there is tripe and lies, and if we get something that even just breaks even, then we are almost happy with that. So can I ask why you ‘only’ rated this 4 stars, when it tripled your bank during the review period?
Rgds, and thanks again,
Kris
This is my first day of using this! 30.04.2012, am i right in saying there are no selections today!
I have my copy!
@Sgt Steve:
Hi Steve, Yes it was for Sunday, I wrote a bot that backs a horse 10 seconds before the off, if all the criteria are met.
Was that for Sunday? I only had 2 qualifiers…
Just purchased this today. Started with a £10 stake, not paper trading. 4 bets 3 winners. £1.52 profit after commission.
Because if it was then i would not touch it! but as its not i might get myself a copy
Just the lowest.
Why do you ask Tom?
Hi Tom
No it is not.
Before i go any further with this, is this system anything to do with steve davidson.
Thanks
Hi Duncan
Well if you’re average price is 1.33 (which it isn’t it is higher but that is somewhere near the minimum) then you need to win 3/4 (75%). And no publishers do not have proofed accounts for past months but personally I think that is less of an issue than perhaps with other systems because a) it is very simple and easy to see if it works or not which leads to b) because of this it is very easy to back test so if you really want ed to do some history it would be quite easy to do it yourself.
It is most certainly now part of my betting portfolio. Hope that helps.
Cheers
Steve
Hi Steve
Being a fellow Aussie I was wondering if I could send you an email asking some advice. Not a barage of emails just one. I am very new to the game but am interested to learn and get a few tips. Very interested in PBP but now with the 6.5% com in Aus I think I will stick to UK & US. Was wondering if anyone familiar with Betrader Evolution.
Thanks RB
Hi Mike
Sgt Steve reviewed the main strategy for a total of 82 days the review conducted by Cashmaster last year only lasted 23 days and concerned only the second strategy (Doubles and Trebles) . As can be seen from Sgt Steve results the main strategy performed very well during the full review and that is what the rating is based on.
Hi Steve,
If you have 2 favorites in the odds range do place them all, or just de lowest in price range?
Regards Tom.
This never got such glowing praise on cash-master’s review site?? And why dont they publish fulls past results on their sales page? Mike
@Sgt Steve:
Hi Steve,
I’m seriously considering purchasing this but a couple of queries before I do.
What strike rate do you need to break even? Also, do the publishers have proofed accounts for past months beyond your own trial.
Thanks.
Duncan
Hi John, this is potentially a bit of a grey area. When I compared selections with other users they were predominantly the same, the ones that differed were generally due to not following all of the rules. I was out of action for a while but have played the system the last 3 days and have hit 10 out of 10 selections so it seems to hold up.
Cheers
Steve
So far in 27 days I have had 52 winners in 65. Made some mistakes so maybe I could have done better. Currently £81 profit on a £100 bank using £10 level stakes. Will switch to 10% of the bank when I hit £200. Currently on a run of 13 winners.
Bets placed 5 minutes before off using a bot. Odds comparison:
Inn the Jungle odds 1.32 lunchtime placed at 1.33
Catspan 1.44 at lunchtime placed at 1.57.
Both winners of course.
Great thanks for that Brian! Cheers Steve
Hi Steve,
William Hill also does Place betting.
Hi steve regards to the selections did the other users have the same success even with different selections as this may be a grey area with this system as when to bet prior to the off or hours before
regards John
